Steelmaker of the ladle metallurgy facility: ladle furnace unit

3D SIMULATOR
48 hours (approx)
steelmaker
rating 5 / 5
The purpose of the simulator: to form the basic skills of carrying out the process of finishing steel and obtaining steel with the specified parameters: temperature, chemical composition, etc.

The simulator contains equipment control elements, a dynamic 3-dimensional model of the unit, information necessary for conducting the technological process and evaluating the result.

Thanks to animation, the student can observe the behavior of the equipment on the virtual work site and the reactions taking place in the steel ladle.

The mathematical model at the heart of the simulator allows calculating the exact result of steel processing based on the specified parameters and the student's actions.

Topics covered:
1. The "Ladle furnace" unit device
2. Metal processing tasks at the "Ladle furnace" unit
3. The process of finishing steel
4. Desulfurization of metal
5. Desulfurizing capacity of slag
6. Heating and cooling of the melt
7. Intensity of blowdown
8. Dosing of slag-forming materials
9. Wire feed
10. Feeding ferroalloys
11. Finishing steel results analysis

There are 2 simulation modes:
The "Training" mode is aimed at teaching the conduct of the technological process and obtaining the target parameters. In this mode, the student has access to various auxiliary materials: laboratory work, detailed descriptions of tasks, diagrams, tips, etc.
The "Testing" mode helps to independently practice and test the acquired skills.

Time required: 48 hours
Our simulators are designed for a quick and easy learning process. Time required may vary depending on the student's experience and prefered pace.
Suitable for beginner level students and for those looking to refresh their knowledge

Learning stages
1
STUDYING LABORATORY WORK
Allows you to get acquainted with the subject area, learn about the device and the principles of operation of the equipment, as well as the features of the technological process
2
SELECTION OF MELTING PARAMETERS
The student sets the initial and target melting parameters, such as chemical composition and temperature, on his own before finishing the steel.

The choice of parameters allows you to work out many options for the development of the process. The simulator offers a choice of the most common steel grades.
3
MANAGEMENT OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS
The technological process is based on a scenario (step-by-step instructions) for finishing steel at the AIC (agro-industrial complex). The scenario affects all processes from setting the ladle for smelting to the return of the smelt to the continuous-casting machine.

All student's actions during fine-tuning are reflected in the quality of the resulting steel.
4
ANALYSIS OF THE HEAT PASSPORT
Based on the results of finishing, a smelting passport is formed, in which all student's actions (including erroneous ones) are recorded. For example, the wrong amount of ferroalloys delivered, untimely connection of argon pipelines, overheating of steel, and others.
